The Ramble Red is here!
After five years chatting all things wine on SEN breakfast with Garry & Tim, the boys [Garry Lyon, Tim Watson & George Samios] have decided to release their own little wine.
Introducing the….
The Ramble Red
Montepulciano Shiraz 2024
Sourced from two very special and historic vineyards in the Barossa Valley and made by Saltram Chief winemaker, Alex Mackenzie, this wine is a blend of the new [in Australia anyway] of Montepulciano and of course great Barossa shiraz.
George’s tasting note
A modern style shiraz with amazing structure and elegance.
The Montepulciano, a variety that originates from Italy, was sourced from the Barossa sub region of Moculta. Rich in colour, it makes a wine deep in flavour and moderate in tannins.
It loves marrying up to the power and up front richness of shiraz and the shiraz in the Ramble Red is a very special parcel indeed. It was sourced from the Saltram 431 vineyard- located opposite the winery and the vineyard that the great late Peter Lehmann considered to be the best shiraz in the valley. “The best shiraz comes from above the line [referring to the old railway line]”, he would always say. This is above the line!
Garry & Tim’s tasting note
A Drop Worthy of a Good Yarn
Crafted by AFL legends Garry Lyon and Tim Watson, alongside wine whisperer George Samios, this Montepulciano Shiraz blend, sourced from mature Barossa vineyards, is as smooth as Tim’s commentary, as bold as Garry’s opinions and as well-balanced as George during a tasting session.
Rich, full-bodied, and perfect for a long-winded chat, this wine pairs best with good mates, great stories, and absolutely no score reviews.
Limited in production – don’t hesitate.
