Why I like it: When William Salter founded Saltram in the Barossa Valley in 1859, it was likely his first grapes were Grenache. Most wineries back then grew this variety, mainly because it grew vigorously and was also used to make port. It went out of fashion in the mid 1950's as a table wine, but has come back in recent years. Sourced from a single vineyard planted in the 1930's just outside Tanunda. Classified as a 'survivor' vineyard by the Barossa Old Vine Charter, the vineyard is one of the real gems of the Barossa.

 This is so fruit driven and subtle, just a beautiful wine.
